Description
We’ve been playing around with non-alcoholic spirits, and while there are a lot of great contenders out there, Proteau’s tangy botanical concoctions are some of the most interesting examples of the genre that we’ve found yet. Lush and vegetal, they seemed most at home with other garden denizens: watermelon, cucumber, hot peppers, and mint. Sipping on this zero-proof punch will give you all the summer evening vibes without the buzz.
Ingredients
2 cups Proteau Rivington Spritz
3 tablespoons agave syrup
2 cups watermelon cubes or balls
1 Persian cucumber, thinly sliced
½ jalapeño, thinly sliced
Leaves from 2 sprigs mint
3 cups unflavored chilled seltzer
Ice cubes
7 small watermelon wedges, for garnish
7 bushy mint sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
Directions:
- In a pitcher stir together Rivington Spritz and agave syrup. Add watermelon, cucumber, jalapeño, and mint. Refrigerate for 2-4 hours to allow flavors to mingle.
- Right before serving, add seltzer to the pitcher and stir to combine.
- To each glass add ¾ cup punch. Make sure to get some watermelon, cucumber, jalapeño, and mint in each glass. Fill glasses with ice. Garnish with watermelon wedges and mint sprigs. Drink deep, preferably barefoot in the grass with the sun on your back.
